Are you considering selling or consigning your model train collection? This decision may arise due to a loved one stepping away from the hobby, downsizing, changing scales, or refining their collection. Managing a model train collection can seem daunting, especially if it has been amassed over many years or even a lifetime.
We understand that most collectors do not maintain detailed inventories and we do not expect you to start one now. Unlike other dealers who require a complete list upfront, we do not. Our process begins with an initial conversation to understand your collection and goals. Following this, we will develop a personalized plan and schedule.
In many instances, we can travel to your location, assess the collection in person, make a cash offer, and if suitable, handle the packing and transportation ourselves. Whether it involves a small collection or a full semi-trailer (as we once did in Boston), no collection is too large or too small for us to manage.
For smaller collections, a few photographs via email or text may suffice. If you do have a list, it is certainly helpful, but it is not mandatory. Many clients opt to ship their smaller collections directly to our facilities in Colorado or New York.
We also purchase related modeling supplies, including structure kits, detailing parts, figures, vehicles, accessories, and tools in good condition. Most collections include railroad books and magazines. While we do purchase book collections in good condition, the resale market for magazines is minimal. Therefore, we typically recommend donating or recycling them.
Our expertise covers nearly every brand, importer, manufacturer, and scale. We specialize in scale model railroading from O Scale to Z Scale, with HO and N Scale being the most prevalent. As an avid Narrow Gauge enthusiast, we are particularly interested in narrow gauge equipment of all types.
Occasionally, we purchase LGB/G Scale and F Scale but typically do not handle Lionel/O-27 or American Flyer products. Additionally, brands such as Tyco or Life-Like generally have low resale value, and we usually do not acquire them. However, we maintain a trusted network of dealers and auction houses for collections that include vintage Lionel, Pre-War Tinplate, Gauge 1, American Flyer, and similar brands.

Please Note: while we do salvage removable structures, details, and scenic elements that are in good resale condition, we do not remove or dismantle layouts, bench work, wiring, or backdrops. Most modelers rely on their friends or fellow hobbyists to assist with major tear down and disposal tasks. To reiterate—we do not purchase magazine collections.
